A meeting of representatives from affiliated A. and P. Associations in Otago was held in the Otago A. and P. Society's board room on the 13th for the purpose of recommending a gentleman for appointment by his Excellency the Governor-General to. the Board of Agriculture for the province of Otago in place of the late member, Mr A S. Orbell (deceased). Mr Edgar O. Hazlett (Otago A. and P. Society), presided. It was moved by Mr D. Cameron and seconded by Mr James Smith that Mr James Begg be recommended for the position as a member of the Board of Agriculture to represent the Otago district. As no other nomination was forthcoming the chairman expressed pleasure in declaring Mr James Begg unanimously nominated to fill the vacancy. It was further resolved that this meeting of delegates from affiliated A. and P. assiciations in Otago", while recognising the excellent work done and the time occupied by the Board of Agriculture in making useful recommendations to the Government in the interests of the producers of the dominion, express disappointment that the recommendations made by the board to the Government in the past have received so little consideration, and trust that in the future the efforts of the Board of Agriculture will receive fuller consideration from the Minister of Agriculture and the Government. A copy of the resolution to be sent to all metropolitan associations in New Zealand and to other affiliated A. and P. associations, asking their co-operation; a copy of the resolution to be also sent to the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture. On the motion of Mr E. F. Duthie, seconded by Mr O. J. Inder, it was resolved that if the Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union bring forward any resolution asking for powers to Bend delegates to a meeting called to nominato a representative to the Board of Agrlfiulture, the recommendation will receive avpurable consideration from affiliated A. and P> associations in Otago.
