MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. DAEGAVILLE, October 11. Jack Heney knocked out Laurie Oadman in the tenth round of a, contest for the middleweight championship of New Zealand. Before a large audience at the' Opera House, George Cook; 12st 121 b. beat Fritz Holland, list 41b, in the seventh round. The. fight was characterised by much in-fighting, in which Holland, with more ringcraft, tried to stall off the'tireless attacks of his redoubtable but less skilful opponent. In the first three rounds Holland led on points, but he tired under a constant battery of jabbing blows, in which the heavier man forced him all over the ring. In the sixth round Holland perceptibly tired, and in the seventh Cook continued his forcing tactics and connected with several smashing blows to Holland's face which eventually forced him helpless on to the ropes, and the referee awarded the fight to Cook.
