WOOL SALES. LONDON, August 18. Eight thousand six hundred and fifty bales of Australian wool were auctioned at Hull. There was a good attendance* of buyers, with fair competition. Prices were about the same, the average being as at the recent London auctions. Crossbreds were somewhat neglected, a fair number being withdrawn. Prices were somewhat irregular, but averaged about Is decline for inferior lots. •Pin'; quality was unchanged The National Mortgage and Agency Company is in receipt of a cable from London, dated 18th inst., giving the average prices of this week's London tallow sales as follow. — First grade mutton tallow, 78s; first graie beef - tallow, 775; second grade mutton and beef tallow, 745, good mixed, 675; gut, 62s Messrs Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cable from London, August 19: —"1555 casks tallow offered; 690 casks tallowjsold; tallow, Is per cwt lower on the average; decline is chiefly on the medium qualities^."
