SOUTHLAND MARKETS. (Feom Oxjb Own Cobiikspondent.) INVERCARGILL, August 21. During the past week the stock market has shown a slight, decline in all classes. This is specially noticeable in hoggets and forward wethers. Ewes. ar.o also slightly easier. The cause of the. depression here is the doubtful outlook . for. wool. for the coming season, it. being, very uncertain how wool will rule during the next year. Nevertheless, prices for all classes of store stock are still on the high side. Store cattle are selling fairly well, and there is hardly any change in this section, the prices quoted last week being applicable to this. The following are approximate values:—■

• OAMARU MARKETS. (Feom Oub Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, August 21. There has been a fair amount of business passing in the' stock"market. The uncertain position' in ■ regard to wool has affected both the price and the number of transactions in most classes of sheep. But good breeding ewes hold their position, and in these most of the business of the- week has been done, farmers apparently having confidence in the Jamb market, which, it may be noted, shows fc recovery during the week, sales for forward delivery having been made at from 21s 9d to 235. Sales of ewes have been made at the following prices: —Four-tooth, from 38s to 42s according to quality; six-tooth, 38s; mixed two, * four, six, and eight-tooth, 345; mixed four, six, and eight-tooth, 38s; failingmouthed, 30s;' hill half bred two-tooth, 30a; hill halfbred sound-mouthed, '3os.
