WAIKAIA.
March 4.—The- weather has been very warm, and the bright sunny days have dried up the . ground. The turnip crops are not up to the usual high standard, but there are some good oat crops. The fruit this season is smaller in size than previous seasons. Socials.—On Friday, February 28, the members of the Bible Class held a social in the church hall. A presentation of a handsome pocket book was made to Mr Fish. Songs, music, humorous readings, and games contributed to the enjoyment. On Wednesday, March 3, the Presbyterian Chruch annual social was held. Tea was served in the hall at 6.30 p.m., and the tables were prettily decorated. There was a large attendance. The church was also decorated, and a lengthy programme was gone through. Large numbers of visitors came from Wen don and Wendonside, and the annual gathering is always the largest meeting held in Waikaia. During the course of the evening, Mr Milne presented Mr Fish (missionary), who has been-'preaoh-ing at Waikaia and Wendonside for the last five months) with a well-filled wallet. Mr Fish returned thanks for the kindness extended to Mrs Fish and himself.
