BANNOCKBURN.
Maroh 6.—After a period of intense heat the weather has become much cooler, even cold at times, Rain has fallen on several occasions, and the country has been benefited thereby, there being an appearance of greenness hitherto absent. Bowling.—A fortnight ago, a working bee consisting of 17 men with three drays, spent a very busy Saturday on the tennis and bowling greens. A great deal of work was done clearing away boulders and levelling off the ground. As there is still a vast amount to be done, we hope that the interest in the work will still continue to be maintained. As all the wpi-u: ha 3 been done voluntarily, tho energy of lha workers is to be commended. School.—Owing to the influenza epidemic the local school, in common with other schools, was closed during the month of February, but work was resumed on March 1, with a full attendance. , Half-holiday—Tho Ideal half-holiday is now observed on Saturday instead of \\ ednesday as formerly. A little inconvenience will be felt by out-lying settlers who. have long made it a practise of coming in on Saturday nights to do their shopping. Ihe local post office still continues to observe Wednesday afternoon as half-holiday.
