First Day—Wednesday, February 25. The Lake County Jockey Club's meeting opened to-day under unfavourable weather conditions. Heavy rain fell up till noon and interfered with the attendance, which was only moderate. The small fields in the galloping events restricted speculation, and the amount handled by the totalisator was £1985, compared with £1993 on the first d«ty of the previous annual meeting. Following are the results: — MAIDEN RACE, of 40sovs. Six furlongs.—! Cape Brett, 9.0 (W. Robinson),J; 2 Bretton, 9.0, 2 ; . 5 Lady Rupee,- 9.0...3. Also started: 4 Kawatiri 9.0, and 3 First Pet 9.0. Bretton won by a neck, nut the stipendiary- steward (Mr Currie) called., a meeting of the Judicial Committee to consider a question of bumping in the straight. The committee reversed the judge's decision, and placed Cape Brett first and Bretton second. Time, lmin 18 l-ssec. LAKE COUNTY CUP: of lOOsovs. One mile and a-quarter.—3 R. Traill's Jock, aged, 7.4. The Lake County Jockey Club's meeting was concluded to-day in fine weather. -There was it large attendance, and notwithstanding the small fields in the galloping events the racing was interesting- throughout. The totalisator handled £2908. compared with £2144 on the second day cf last meeting. The total for the two days was £4S93 —an increase of £756 on the amount recorded at the previous meeting. Silver Link led Hymestra, Acre, Miss Gold, and Listowel to the straight, where Hymestra ran to the front and finished a couple of lengths in front of Acre; Silver Link a length away third. Verbosity and Rieuse led into the straight, but Isabel came from the back and beat Verbosity; by half a length, with Rieuse and Insurrection a dead heat third, a couple of lengths away. Taiamai led practically all the way, with Dusky Eve, Client, Moutoa Ivanova, and Oratress as her nearest attendants. Client collared Taiamai at the distance, eventually winning by three lengths, Oratress a similar distance away third, and Dusky Eve fourth. Time, 2min 38sec.

HARBISON HACK HANDICAP, of 200sova. One mile and) a distance.—4 Tamo Fox, 7.9 (J. Hare), 1; 5 Haversack, 8.0, 2; 10 Better Luck," 7.0, 3. Swaneo River led Inah, Chimera, and Astinome along the back, when Arrowsmith took charge and showed the way into the straight from Swanee River, Bo Peep, and Chimera. In a fine finish' Bo Peep got the verdict by a head, Swanee Eiver over a length away third. Time, lmin 15sec. TOLAGO BAY MEETING. The Tolaga Bay Jockey Club's annual meeting was held on Saturdlay. The going was very heavy owing to recent rains. The totalisator investments amounted to £6689, as compared with £3516 in 1917.
