WAIROA (Hawke's Bay).

August 14. —An especially dry season up to the middle of July has been followed by the following series of rainfall records, commencing on July 23:—1.00in, .85in, .50in, .29in, .43in, 1.63 in. .17in, -48 in, .S6in, .23in, .Cain, .00, .00, 2.34 in, .68in, 1.24 m, and .09in on August B—a total f of 11.32 in on 17 consecutive days: consequently the country is water-logged everywhere. Church Meeting.—The annual congrega tional meeting of the St. Andrew's (Wairoa) Presbyterian Church was held in adverse ' weather conditions on Wednesday evening'. The Rev. Mr Keene, home missionary at Frasertown, was present. The annual report as read by the secretary, Mr Bowie", and tho balance sheet by the treasurer, Mr W. F. Shaw, > were encouraging statements. The new committee elected by this congregation' consists of Messrs Bowie, Bygum, Oarer, Shaw, Dr Somerville, Stock, West, Winter (re-elected), _ and Messrs Mackay, Haughton, and Hookings. The various funds showed* credit balances as follows:—General, £49 19s 2d; building, £139 Is 9d (liability £500); Sunday school, £3l Is 4d; Bible classes, £4 Os 7d. A tender has been accepted for the erection of additional rooms for Sunday school and Bible class work. This will involve an expenditure of over £6OO. The Rev. Mr Raeburn, who presided at the meeting, has now completed 34 years' of service in the pulpit of the Wairoa Presbyterian Churoh.
