THE GRAVES OF NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS AT BROCKENHURST.
In our illustrated pages appear two photographs of the New Zealand corner of the ancient churchyard at Hants, England. These were forwarded to us by Mrs Salwey, who recently undertook to tend any special grave among the many that form the New Zealand Cemetery at Brockenhurst, and so taking up the work of hon. lady gardener. The photographs wore taken by Mrs Salwey's husband. The lady in an accompanying not© says she is sure those whose husbands or sons are buried at Brockenhurst will be pleased to see what beautiful surroundings encompass the graves. With tho photographs she sent the following lines: — g, FROM MOTHER TO MOTHER. Tho' the, rolling sea with crested waves divides your land from ours, The graves of your dear sons are covered o'er with waving grass andl flcweis; And England's women and children bring fair tribute's to your dead, Aiid the bees and the butterflies hover above, where the sweet rose leaves are shed. •■ •' We kt>cel and waft on the wings\>f the wind, our message of Love to you; To comfort your mourning hearts, and say, "To this Trust w© will be true. Silent and still is the spot where they rest with their comrades, who, side by side For the Peace of the World, and all mankind!, have both bravely and nobly died. —J. M. Salwey. Boldie, Hants, June, 1919.
