BOWLING.

Some 30 members attended the annual meeting of tho Green Island Bowling Club. The report and balance sheet were, on the whole, satisfactory. In the Centre interolub matohes the club was seventh on the list—a very* creditable position under the oircumstances. Mr ' H. Wilson was reelected president, Mr W. T. Smellii9 as secretary, and Mr P. Thonioan as treasurer.

Messrs W. A. Gordon and Herbert Harraway were elected vice-pnasidents, and Mr D. Sloan selector. At a meeting of the members of the Kaitangata Bowling Club a lengthy report was submitted by Mr William Lowe as to the bast method of restoring the grass destroyed by flood on the playing surface, and as to other measures to be taken to improve and maintain the green. The report was a most comprehensive one, and Mr Lewis, who was present, supplemented it by replying to questions, put to him. It was resolved to thank Mr Lowe for his able report and for his offer of assistance in the way of supervision and advice, and to carry out his suggestions. Messrs Penman and Rutherford were appointed to make arrangements for suitable soil for topdressing, while the president was authorised to procure the timber necessary to carry out the work. At the annual meeting of the Roxburgh Bowling Club, Mr W. Mercer presiding, thi3 report submitted stated that the season had been a fairly successful one from a financial point of view. There was a small balance on the right side, and the club has carried on for five bad years, always slightly reducing the overdraft. The work of top-dressing the green had been carried out by a working bee of some members, the work occupying four days. In the club ties the championship gold medal was won by J. M. Murphy. W. Donnelly and R. George, instead of playing off the final for Donnelly's trophy, devoted the prizemoney (£1 10s) to the club's funds. The club had only one out o fthc six Centre matches played. A rink had taken part in the champion rinks competition at Alexandra, and made a very interesting game of it, the score being 21 all at the twentyfirst head. In the extra head played Alexandra scored one and # won. _ Mr W. Manuel was elected president, with Messrs Donnelly and R. G. Woodhouso as vicepresidents, and Mr D. M'Donald treasurer and Mr F.
