THE LATEST GERMAN ATTACK.

The Germans have launched a great attack between Noyo.n (on the Oise) and Montdidier (midway between the Oise and the Somrne). The enemy gains in the new offensive are confined to the French advanced zone. The objective of the advance is towards Paris.
The Germans gained two miles on a front of 20 miles between Montdidier and Noyon. The French checked the advance, after heavy fighting. British Headquarters report: The success the Bavarians scored by rushing the Locre hospice wa3 of short duration. On the morning of the. Bth tho French counter-attacked, swept them back, and completely restored the line a't Scherpenberg and Mont Rouge. A most daring exploit is reported. Three of oar men crept into Strazeelo and returned with a garrison of nine and a machine gun. A tremendous gas-shelling preceded th 9 attack, which is along a 25-mile front west of Noyon.
