AN AUCKLAND SHIRKER.

AUCKLAND, May 6. A First Division reservist named John Charles Ormo was charged at the Police Court today with failing to enrol. _ The police stated that the accused, with a married woman, who was separated from her husband and had two children, had lived on a fishing boat in the harbour for two years. They lived on the woman's maintenance money, supplemented by the proceeds of fishing. Ho was dodging military service, and avoided coming into the city, tho woman doing any necessary business. Orme was on tho roll as Second Division reservist, class D, his address being Waiheke Island, in the Gulf. Tho magistrate said that, had it not been for the need for men was so great, tho accused would havo received a long term of imprisonment. A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed, accused to bo handed over to tho military authorities at the expiration of tho term.
