POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK.

A POPULAR INSTITUTION. CIIRISTCIIURCH, March 9. Sir Joseph Ward made tho following official statement to-day regarding the business done by tho Pest Office Savings Bank : The figures for the dominion for January disclosed tho fact that tho business done by that important institution is still steadily increasing - . Not only did the deposits (£1.375,933) and the withdrawals (£1.007,255) exceed the _ corresponding figures for the same month in 1917, but tho excess of deposits over withdrawals reached the large amount of £368,678, as compared with £352,118 in January, 1917. Those figures may be regarded as eminently satisfactory, as showing a considerable accumulation of small sums of money which will bo available for investment bv depositors in the coming issue of the War Loan.
