CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES. The adjourned conference of delegates from local industrial unions, convened by the Ota<ro Labour Council, was continued in the Trades Hall on the 6th, and was attended by 55 delegates. The Hon. J. T. Paul presided. The following remits were adopted after full discussion : " That the conference confirm a policy -©f compulsory unionism, and make this part of a political platform in the future elections that Labour may contest; also, and through the conference that is to be held in July for the necessary amendments to the Conciliation and Arbitration Act." " That the conference make a combined protest to the Minister of Labour against the attitude adopted by the Labour Department in the policing and enforcement v of the different awards," " That legislation should bc_ introduced to securo proper hygienic conditions for tho workers." When the conference adjourned the question of the establishment of co-operative stores was under discussion. The conference will be resumed next Thursday.
