LAKE COUNTY.
February 23.—The weather has been very warm during the past weak. Masonic—The joint installation of worshipful masters and investiture, of officers of Lake Lodge of Ophir (Queenstown) and Lodge Arrow Kilwinning took place at the Masonic Hall, Arrowtown, on Tuesday last. The installation ceremony was carried out by Bight Worshipful Bro. Wm. Timpany, Past Provincial Grand Master of Southland, and Bro. W. R Busdin, P.G-.'S., acted am direotor of ceremonies. There, was a good attendance of visiting brethren. The following were the officers installed: —liake Lodge of Ophir—W.M., Bro. John Miller; S.W., Bro. P. M'DoWall; J.W., Bro. S. W. H Soman*, P.M. In vhe evening the visiting brethren were entertained at a social function in the Masonic Hall. Death.—The death took place at Dunedm on Friday, 15th inst., of Mies Madeline (Madge) Angelo, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs S. B. Angelo, Frankton. Deceased had been in failing health for tome considerable time. Wakatipu Horticultural Society.—The annuel Summer Show was held in the Garrison Hall, Queenstown, on Wednesday afternoon and evening last. The season is rather far advanced for some varieties of blooms, but nevertheless tHare was a really good exhibition. There was good competition in the fruit and vegetable classes. The. local branch of the Bed Gross Association had the tea rooms and sweet stalls at the Show,, and did good business. The Late Dr Bedford.—General regret was expressed when the news of the death of Dr H. D. Bedford was received in the district. He was well known to the older residents, as, during his student days he conducted the services for a time at the Queenstown and Arrowtown' Wesleyan Churches. His widow is a daughter of Mr S. N. Brown, a lesident of this district in the early days.
