ARBITRATION COURT.
AUCKLAND, February 20. The Arbitration Court heaH to-day a dispute in the softgoods trade, together with a demand by packers for improved conditions of employment. Mr Justice Stringer said a very important principle was involved. In each caso a small body of employees sought to compel a settlement of the dispute between the workers and the employers, while the bulk of the employees expressed themselves as satisfied with existing conditions. He would hear evidence as to the general conditions. If it were shown that the conditions were not satisfactory, he would refer the dispute back to the Conciliation Council. After hearing the evidence called by the unions, ths court reserved its decision.
