NATIONAL COURSING ASSOCIATION. The Council of the National Coursing Association of' New Zealand met on the 11th. Mr B. S. Irwin (president) occupied the chair. Mr Richard Coombes (Sydney) wrote asking the council's opinion upon the foundation of an Australian Union, despite the fact that Victoria and South Australia were at present opposed to the scheme.—lt was agreed to fall in with the wishes of New South Wales, Tasmania, and Queensland, and go right on with the union, hoping that Victoria and South Australia would join later. William Anderson, who was disqualified for two years in November, 1916, applied for the remission of his sentence.—To be remitted as from March 1. The Otago Central Coursing Club applied for a donation towards the Waterloo expenses.—To be advised that the, association was not in a position to give a donation. The Wanganui Coursing Club named two members of the club for the defaulters' list. —The secretary was instructed to prepare a forfeit list, in accordance with Rule 47. The bank pass book showed a credit balance of %£Zl 3s Id. *

OTAGO CENTRAL COURSING CLUB. The third annual meeting of tho Otago Central Coursing Club was held in the board room at the Empire Buildings on the 6th. The president (Mr B. S. Irwin) occupied the chair The committee, in its annual report, stated that during the progress of the great war all sporting bodies continued to lose numbers of their members, and were continually faced with extra difficulties of finance. However, the past season was comparatively successful, and although it did not result, in a profit to the club the committee was able to mako ends meet. The arrangements for holding the Waterloo meeting (which is allotted to tho Otago Central Club for 1918) were well in hand, and nominations were coming in freely. The thanks of the club were clue to .Messrs Ross, Drake, Anderson. Pitches, and Dunsmuir. who generously subscribed £SO towards the stakes' of the Waterloo fixture. Tho committeo Had arranged for Mr Bull, of Canterbury, to visit Omakau and secure the necessary hares there for the Waterloo meeting. This should result in a plentiful supply of good, strong hares being obtained. Club members were justified in looking forward to a successful season. No doubt tho accommodation for visitors at Omakau and Blacks for Easter will be taxed to the utmost, and local sports were energetically arranging that all visitors would thoroughly enjoy" the outing. The balance sheet showed totn] receipts amounting to £IOB 6s 4cl, and an expenditure of £ll7 Us 2d. The deficit had been squared, and the club owed nothing at the present time. < > Tho Chairman, in moving the adoption of tho report and balance sheet, referred to the approaching Waterloo meeting, which would entail a great deal of work on the

Ho expressed tho indebtedness of tho club to Messrs Watson, Boddy, Marks, and Whito for various services rendered. Mr Loo seconded tho motion, which was carried without discussion. Pitches (Blacks); hon. secretary, Mr O. R. Maries; treasurer, Mr Morgan; committee —Messrs W. Millier, J. Smith, T. Lee, J. Ronald, D. Eckhoff, 8. Hutchison, P. Byan; delegate to tho National Coursing Council of New Zealand, Mr T. Lee.
