Speaking at a banquet to General Guillaumat M. Venizelos referred to the baseless and absurd enemy rumour that the Balkan front was to be abandoned or weakened. General Guillaumat's appointment proved the growing importance attached by the Entente Powers to the Balkan _ front, which, besides being a solid barrier to invasion, would later serve as £• tar . t!l1 S point for vigorous action in which the Hellenic army would share. General Guillaumat, in replying, said that was more certain than that on this front, as on other allied fronts, there could be no question of retiring. Ten classes of Greek reservists have been ordered to mobilise by February 14.
