THE RAILWAY SERVICE.
ENGINEERS, FIREMEN, AND CLEANERS' ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, January 21. The bi-annual meeting of the New Zealand Locomotive Engineers, Firemen, and Cleaners' Association commenced in tho Trades Hall, Christehurch, last week. A motion was cai-ried unanimously protesting strongly against the Government passing war legislation which prevented members of the railway service from taking advantage of the superannuation fund when they reached the retiring age. It'was considered that the men had a. right to retire> under the special agreement at the time of the setting up of the fund and were on a different footing from members of other funds formed after the railway fun/i It was decided to givo_ effect to a _ reorganisation of the association, to come into effect as soon as tho present Executive Council can make arrangements. Mr M'Arley was appointed secretary, to take un his headquarters in Wellington.
