THE Y.M.C.A.
MARCH 15-" RED TRIANGLE DAY." WELLINGTON, January 8. The approval oi the Minister of Internal Affairs has been granted to the Y.M.C.A. for its public appeal for funds to assist in the maintenance if its service to New Zealand soldiers.
It is explained that there are urgent and increasing demands upon the funds of the association In connection with the service for the fighting forces of the dominion, and that, in view of the present commitments alone, a special appeal to the public is imperative if the service is to be maintained over the coming winter at the front. A sum of £25,000 has just been remitted to the London headquarters of the association to meet immediate requirements, and a cable message has been received from the New Zealand Honorary Commissioner in London urging additional work for the troops. At a meeting of the National Committee of the association it was decided that the day of the appeal, which has been fixed for March 15, should be known as the "Red Triangle Day." Organisation is to be proceeded with immediately in all the centres.
