At an inquest at Christchuroh into tho circumstances attending the death of Marmadnke Geo. Wallich, a well-known dentist, the evidence showed that deceased had been In bad health for some time and suffering from insomnia. A doctor was called and found Wallich suffering from the effect* of poisoning, caused by a sleeping draught and aggravated by chronio kidney disease. A verdTot in accordance with the doctor's evidence was returned.

Peroy Petherick, employed by Mr Jeff, farmer near Clinton, on the Ma'taura road, was kicked by a, horse, and sustained a fracture of the skull. He was removed to the Gore Hospital. The body of a man was found in a lagoon at Greymouth. His personal effects Indicate that he was Charles Henry Sargisson, a discharged soldier, 43 years' of age. The Taranaki Herald reports that the Rev. W. A. Sinclair met with a painful accident at New Plymouth on Saturday, sth inst.. neat the railway station. A double drowning fatality occurred on the jL4th at Cabbage Tree Crossing on the Tukitukl River, near Hastings, James Neary and his wife losing their lives. The couple were employed as married couple on Mr F. M'Kenzfe's station, and were crossing the river, which was in flood, in a trap, which upset. Later on the horses were rescued. The man's body was recovered, but that of the wife has not yet been found.

As a result of a motor cvclo accident on Saturday afternoon, Adolph Schulen- - berg, married, residing at Northland, had; his skull fractured, and succumbed at the . Wellington Hospital early on tho 13tb inst.George Gorton, while- riding a bicycle downhill at Rivei'ton on Sunday, lost control of tho machine, and ran over an embankment, sustaining severe injury to the head. He died two hours later.
