(From Our Own Correspondent.) January 11. H. Cutts, who went out to Trentham on arrival from Auckland, is . the first of the visiting contingent to put in an appearance at Headquarters. He is freshening tho members of his team up. Hymestra, 80-Peep, Almoner, and Demagogue have each inourrcd the full penalty of 141 b for the Wellington Stakes. Kiltess, who has had a successful run at the West Coast meetings, has incurred a penalty for Foxton, where she is engaged on the 22nd inst.

O. Klng'an, a member of the well-known Trentham family of that name, died suddenly on Wednesday. It- looks as if there will be a good many drop out of the handicap events at Trentham. Multiply may be top weight in the Cup when the-acceptances are known. J. W. Low© has four of his team engaged in the Wellington Cup. It is considered likely that Johnny Walker will be tho one to start.

As was generally expected. Nobleman was made favourite for the Wellington Cup when the ■vfelghts appeared. Ho has the same weight that Bunting won with last year. Bonny Maid has been off colour the last few days, and is considered an unlikely starter at the meeting. Mr Whitney won three races on the West Coast with Trentham Rose and one with Rose Pink. The later is to run in the Foxton Cup. Arrangements 7re being made to ship Desert Gold to Sydney from Wellingtpn.. While out at exercise at Masterton yesterday Hymestra backed into a ditch. Ho did not hurt himself, and will be ablo to fulfil his engagements at Trentham.
