GAELIC SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of tho Gaelio Society was held in the Orchestral Hall, Rattray street, on the evening of the Ist. Chief Dugald MTherson presided, supported by Chieftain Kenneth Cameron. Ihere was a good attendance of members and friends, including visiting Highlanders from Wellington, Oanmru, (ireyinouth, and other parts. The Chief referred to the great loss Highland circles had recently sustained by the death of Mr Murdoch M'Lcan, Chief of the Auckland St. Andrew's Society, and a lament was played on the pipes, the audience standing. An excellent programme of songs, chiefly Gaelic, contributed in firstclass style, was much appreciated, the singing of Mrs Angus MTvor being received with special favour. The proceedings thoughout were characterised by true Highland heartiness, the Gaelio songs and other items recalling to those present affectionate memories of the "Land of the Bens, the Glens, and the. Heroes."
