In the stock market a g-ood» amount of business has been done in sheep, a number of lines of considerable dimensions of station ewes having changed hands for March delivery. In this way several thousand sound-mouthed ewes have been sold at from JOs to 325, the top money having "boon given for a good line of crossbreds. Other sales of sheep have taken place at the following prices:—Shorn four and six-tooth ewes, with lambs, 25s 6d— all counted ; fullmouthed ewes in the wool, with lambs, 23s 9d—all counted; shorn two-tooth ewes, 325; mixed shorn two-tooth ewes and wethers (the latter in g-ood condition), 30s 6d; hill wether lambs (for March delivery), 15s 6d. There is a steady speculative business in paddock lambs for forward delivery at from 21s to 22s 6d. A fair amount of business has been done during the week in cattle, mostly lines of j'oung mixed sexes, with some lines of a very mixed description. The sales have included a number of lines at the following pricos: —Mixed steers and heifers, two to two and a-half years old. £ll 10s and £l4 10s, according to frame and condition: vearlings, up to £6 10s; calves, £2 10s to £3. As is natural sit this time of the year, graziers holding sheep are carrying them through for shearing, while those with forward cattle are carrying them on with the idea, of turning them over fat in a month or two. Lambs at present are. quiet, but, given an assurance that the works will be freezing this year, there is certain to be a strong demand for this class, as rape and soft turnip feed is coming in. Taken all over, the market for all classes except young store cattle, is a littlo easier. Prices may bo quoted: Fat cattle: Ox beef. 4?s to 50s per 1001 b; heifer, 45s to 475; cow, 43s to 44s 6d. Fat sheep: 'Shorn wethers. 33s 6d to 36s 6d; good woolly wethers, 45s 6d to 48s; poorer sorts, from 435; good shorn ewes, up to

ALDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH December 12. At Adding*on market there were medium' entries of stock in several departments, but large entries of fat ca+tle iind fat lambs. There was a good sa;e for steer and heifer beef, but cows, of which there were a considerable number on offer, were easier. Fat lambs showed a little further decline, the quality not being quite so good as that of list week. S*ore sheep were firmer, the rain having improved the demand. The bulk of the fat sheep was ewes, and the market was -irregulnr at last week's average rates. The store cattle offered were small, irregular lots. Fat pigs were a little easier, and stores were unchanged.
