HANMER SPRINGS.
December 14. —A most enjoyable 3ccial was held in. the Nurse Cavel ward, Queen Mary Hospital, on Wednesday evening. Songs were suns? by Mrs Thomas, Miss Velum, Corporal Dobson, and Corporal Ramage, and a recitation, by Private Traill. A progressive ping pong competition for inmates of the Queen Mary Hospital was won by Sergeant Halford, A candle-lighting compot.it : on for ladies was won by Miss Sench. Tho dances were much enjoyed, the music being excellently played by Mr Jones. Supper was provided by the ladies. During
an interval the following prizes were presented by Captain Clifton : Golf competi-tion—clock-putting, Private Holmes 1; approaching, Private Boal 1; King Solomon s parade, Private Hamilton 1; card tournament (600), Privates Be-sley and Wells 1; euchre, Private Bailey 1, Private Traill 2, Private Harrison booby. The best-made bed for the week was won by Private Hansen. Tho prizes were donated by the Hospital Amusement Committee k
