EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
The monthly committee meeting of tho Otugo Early Settlers' Association was held on the 11th ins't., the president, Mr D. Reid, in the cliair. Tho following gifts were received for the museum: From Miss Melville, Port Molyneux, framed portraits of her father and mother (father, Lady Egidia, 1861, mother, Ben Lomond, 1853', ; from Miss Hop-wood (Dunedin), framed photograph of her father, mother, and self, arrived 1063; from J. H. Abbott (Serpentine avenue),copper token (Jones and Williamson), 1858; from Daniel M. White (Dunedin), copy poems (J. Barr,' Craigielec); Mills, almanac 1875, Communion token First Church, 1843; from Rev. J. Lymburn (North Taien\ bound copy "New Zealander." published 1830; from Geo. Gerrie (artist), framed portrait in oil of his late grandfather, Jas. Gerrie, Dunedin; from Miss Flynn (North-East Valley), framed portrait of her late father, Patrick Flynn, Gil Bias, 1865. Mr Flynn was one of the warders in charge of the prisoners who in 1856 were allowed to attend the races at Montecillo, Dunedin. Tho following deaths were recorded: — Alexander Russell (Ashburton, late Lawrence), 83, Gabriel's Gully, 1861; John Haggerty (Oharu, Wellington), Gabriel's Gully, 1861; John Grant (Southland), 11\ Pladda, 1P60; Francis Porter (Caversham), 76, Runnymede, 1862; Robt. Jackson ' (Oamaru), Henbury, 1359; Mrs David Mlntyre (Dunedin, late Wangiloa), 78, arrived 1858; Captain Hugh Faterson ("Dunedin), 81, Pladda, I 860; John Paterson (Oamaru), 87, arrived Port Chalmers, 186*1; Martin Heaney" (Cromwell), 78, early 60's; John Pringle (DuncdinV, 85, Avondale, 1859; Lawrence Mathewson (Kokonga), £6, Gabriel's Gully, 1861 • Mrs Matilda Asher (Port Chalmers), 70, Macclesfield. ]854; Daniel Clark (Dunedin, lato Waipahi), 77, Hamilla Mitchell. 1864; Mrs Jano Murdoch (relict of John Leslie, Dunedin), (86. Strathmoro, 1856; Miss Annio Livingstone (Dunedin), 77, Philip Laing 1848; James Wyllio (late Wyllie's Crossing), 75, City of Dunedin, 1863; Robt. Tapper (Invercargill), 88. arrived Dunedin 1862; W. L. Philp (St. Clair), 81, early 60's. The following early settlers were enrolled as members:—C. N. Manning (Musselburgh). Black Swan, 1864; William Child lies (Ca-gill road), Bosworth, 1860; Mrs Isabella Mason (nee Blair (York place, Dunedin), 1856; Thomas 11. Hammond (Evansdale), Geo. Canning, 1857; Mra M. F. Aitken, nee Reid (Caversham) Robt. Henderson, 1861; Mrs Isabella Kingsford (Nelson street), Aboukir, 1864; William Fletcher (Balclutha), Arima, 1863; John Sime (Awatea, Catlins), Silistria, 1861. The following descendants were also enrolled :—Herbert Alex. Christie (Burnside), Stately, 1854; Robt. Clark (Hooper's Inlet), Nelson, 1862; Rev. John Pringle (Edendale), Strathfieldsaye, 1858; W. H. Oughton (Wright's Bush), Ajax, 1849; Wm. Bissett (Wangnloa), Mooltan, 1549; Mrs Jas. Rodger (Dundas Chili, 1860; Andrew Melville fLovell's Flat). Lady Egidia. 1861; Wm. Clark (Lovell's Flat), Jura, 1853.
