The following paragraph appears in the annual report of the State Forestry Depart ment:—The experimental planting that has been d,one at Galloway, in Central Otago, has not been successful, and it may be now concluded that commercial forests cannot be established on the poor lands that are available In this low-rainfall district." A movement has been initiated by the ladies of the Women's National Reserve for the formation of a Soldiers' Wives Club in Wellington.
