LARGE DECREASE IN MARRIAGES. The Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages in Christchurch has supplied vital statistics for the dominion for the past five years, as follows; —
There has been an increase except with regard to marriages, which, during 1916, fallen much below the average. The figures relating to Maoris are as follow: —
The registration of births and deaths of Maoris came into force on March 1, 1913.
