SALMON IN OTAGO.
THE SEASON'S DISTRIBUTION. WELLINGTON, September 5. With regard to salmon in Otago, tho Minister of Marine (tho Hon. G. W. Russell) has received from tho Chief Inspector of Fisheries (Mr Ayson) a report that, during August tho following- fish were liberated from tho Pembroke hatchery:—ln Glondlm Bay (Lake Wanaka). 95,000; in Lak-j Wanaka, near tho outflowing of tho Clutha River, 200,000; in Lake Hawea, near the outflowing of the Hawea River. 100.000; in tho Matatapu, _ 95,000; total AOri QOO The total quantity of egsa sent'to the hatohery wa* 500.000', and ill* loss in hatching was 10,000 -t is intended in future to send more than &00.000 rg»s to tho hatcheries for distribution in tho Molyncux River, owing to its greut size.
