DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS

SIXTH DAY.-TUESDAY. The Dunedin Competitions wore confti -ed yesterday, and many persons paid a visit to Burns Hall to hear the- musical and elocutionary items that composed the programme. In the evening the hall was crowded, and some rather good performances were listened to. Mr A. C. Hanlon ©c-upied the chair, and made the results as plear as circumstances permitted him. Several of the competitions at the Dunedin Competition Society's annual festival on the 6th were of a very interesting character, and it was rather surprising that the attendance in the evening showed a slight falling off. The chief piano contest in itself was an attractive item, but there were other numbers that should have aroused interest and speculation. The chairman for the evening was Dr Hall. EIGHTH DAY—FRIDAY. The annual festival of the Dunedin Competitions Society was continued on the 7th in the Burns Hall, the attendance being well up to the average that has been maintained throughout the past week. The programme was an attractive one in many respeots, and was exceedingly well varied, providing a genuinely enjoyable evening's entertainment, while interest was always sustained by the of competition. Mr J. L. Salmond occupied the chair, and on behalf of the committee, extended thanks to those parents and friends connected with the Albany Street School who had billeted the boys of the Oamaru South School Band. —(Applause.)
