As indicating- collateral uses which wire less stations may servo, the annual repor <>f the Post and Telegraph Department say that "time" was transmitted on one even inj;- from the observatory clock, Wellington to Tahiti. The clock was arranged to mak contacts at intervals of a minute, an? worked a relay at Awanui over a land liri about 600 miles long, the relay in tun operating a sounder which served as a ke; to work the high-power transmitting ap paratus. Ton separate signals which wer sent were reported as having been receive! in an entirely satisfactory manner at Ta hiti, the distance covered being 22*15 nautd cui tnilea.
