PROHIBITION ORDERS

AN IMPORTANT JUDGMENT. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 6. An important judgment was delivered in the Supreme Court to-day, when it was decided that a prohibition order addressed to licensed persons within any particular district is of no effect so far as it regards licensed persons outside that district. The eflect of Mr Justice Chapman's judgment is that, whilst it is unlawful for a prohibited person to obtain liquor in outside districts, it is quite lawful for licensed persons in such distneteto supply him, even if they know of the existence of the order. Though the prohibited person is liable, it is rather a queer state of affairs.
