A MOTHER TO HER SON.
Remember, my dear eon, remember, When bravely you go forth to war, Cruel men they may kill your body, But there're dangers deadlier far. For the vices that men's lives are wrecking, For the sina that destroy their souls> Around you like sirens are luring, To wreck you in treacherous shoals.
Tamper not with the sense-drugging drink— To worse sins it oft paves the wayj Refuse it —do not cowardly shrink, Let not others your actions sway. From gambling and betting hold aloof, Do not play for money, my son; 'Gainjrt taunting and jeering, oh, be proof, And such evil companions, shun.
Oh, beware of false, shameless women, From Delilahs keep far away, They're serving their master the devil _, From their God to draw men astray. 80 boldly say no when you're tempted To enter the foul haunts of sin; • Your courage may strengthen a comrade, And help him his battle to win. Remember, then, son, do thy duty; Do not squander thy strength and youth, For we all at home will be pr&ying ' While you fight for homeland and truth; Let your motto bo "No surrender" Neither to devil or treaoh'rous Hun; Fight bravely till both are quite conquered, And a glorious victory won. This earth life is but as a moment, And like a faint shadow doth flee. When it passes where will you be living Through the Eeons of eternity? Look to Christ —in Him is redemption, His life on the cross freely given That whosoever comes in contrition, Believing, will be forgiven. —E. J. C. Ahaura.
