PATRIOTIC FUNDS
MEETING OF TAIERI SOCIETY. As an outcome of the deputation from liie East 'Taieri Patriotic Institutions, which waited on the Taieri County Council on the 24th ult., a meeting of the Taieri Patriotic Society was held in Mosgiel on Thursday afternoon. Mr Quelch (Mayor of Mosgiel) was in the chair. It was resolved, after considerable discussion, that the meeting express its great satiefaction with the result of the East Taieri canvass, and suggest that it be held in abeyunce in the meantime. Mr Miller to report to the people of his district, and that if further action was then desired before paying the money to the Otago Fund, a conference be arranged with representatives of the Taieri Patriotic Society and the Otago Executive.
