LUMSDEN.
April 16. —The weather during the past month has been all'that could be desired; consequently' the pastures look well and root crops are likely to be abundant. All stock never looked better than at this season of the year. Farewell. —A number of send-offis and goodbyes to our soldier boys have' taken place during the past month. This district has been very -lucky in the balloting for recruits, and all are cheerfully and loyally responding to the call. Batches are leaving weekly for camp, and others after a -final visit home. Patriotic.—Those ladies who are loyally and quietly carrying on the work of providing comforts for our soldier boys at the front are constantly at work, meeting at their rooms every Friday in each week, as well as knitting, sewing, and making up on all other days of the week. School Committee Election.—A good deal of interest is taken by householders in the meeting to be held on the 30th inst. for the election of a school committee for the ensuing year, and a large attendance is anticipated.
