HERO OF GALLIPOLI.

A remarkable story was told at the North London Police Court when two boys of 16 were charged with stealing cigarettes. It was stated that one of tho accused, named Bradbury, joined the army when he was 14, and, according to his discharge, was with tho colours 352 days. He was with tho Gloucestershire Regiment in Gallipoli from September 2 to October 15, 1915, and was present at the battle of Chocolate Hill. He returned to England invalided, and his father claimed him as being under age. Bradbury's' father said that just after the boy was 14 he was snapped up by a recruiting sergeant and put into the Fusi; liers. The witness got him out the next day, but three months later the boy joined tho Gloucesters of his own accord, saying that ho was 19. The boy was in tho second landing at Silvia Bay. With another lad he went across "No Man's Land *■* for water. The other lad feh wounded, but Bradbury got back safely with 24 bottles of water. The act was reported to the commanding officer, but no notice was taken of it because- it was not witnessed by a commissioned officer. A remand was ordered.
