TUAPEKA PATRIOTIC SPORTS.
A very successful sports meeting for the benefit of the wounded roldiera was held at Tahjkopa on Easter Monday. There was a large attendance, and a sum of about £ls will be handed ovcj to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. Following are the results of the events:—loo Yards Handicap J. Andrews, Byds, 1; W. B. Fea, scratch, 2. Long Jump—J. Hurting 1, I. Hurring 2. Hop, Step, and Jump—W. It. Fea (scratch), 37ft, 1; I. Hurring (3ft), 34ft Sin, 2. Horse Jumping—J. Campbell 1, J. Martin 2. Tilting the Bing—M. Campbell 1, W. M'Laohlan 2. Sawing Handicap—o. Harding and W. Harpur 1, W. Johnston and J. Burrows 2, High Jump—l. Hurring (din), sft 4in, 1, W. Johnston 2. Eighteen-inch Chop—W. Johnston, scratch, 1; J. Andrews, 20sec, 2. Two hundred and twenty yards—F. Silva, 10yds, 1; W. B. Fea, scratch, 2. ilalf.-mile —J. Andrews, 25yds, 1; F. Silva, 10yds, 2. Fifteen-inch Chop—W. Johnston, scratch, 1; D. Stewart, 15sec, 2. Sawing Championship—Campbell Bros. 1, Johnston and Burrows 2. There were also children’s races. In Ihe evening a social and dance was held, when a musical programme was contributed.
