The following cable message, dated Paris, April 8, and addressed to the New Zealand Pre,ss Association has been received: “Senator Hubert is'happy to inform the Now Zealanders that, in front of 75,000 people, the New Zealand Army Riigby team beat the French Army team by 40 points to nil. The score consisted of five goals, four trios, and a goal from a free kick. The New Zealanders thus won the Somme Cup offered by Lc Journal. The points wore scored by Murray, Best, Upton, Field, Owlcs, Ryan, Wilson, and Taku. The French papers to-night agree that the New Zealanders are considered the best team ever scon in Franco.” Playing at Swansea, Wales scored 15
points against the Australians' 6. Ferrier and White scored for the losers.
