STATE BUTCHERY.
AUCKLAND, January 22. Following’ the announcement by tho butchers as to an increase in the retail prices of meat in Auckland by from to Id per lb, despite an intimation by tho Board of Trade that tho Government aro prepared to give them the'option of drawing supplies from tho Imperial stores, and would not sanction any increase in prices, tho president of tho Board of Trade now announces that two retail shops, under the control of the Government, shall bo opened at Auckland to sell meat for cash, without delivery, at Id and 2d per lb below tho ruling retail price. The board is now negotiating for shops. Meantime the optica to the butchers holds good.
