REMARKABLE INCIDENT.

YOUNG WOMAN'S MISFORTUNE. AUCKLAND, January 4. An extraordinary incident occurred in the Grey Lynn district ea.rly this morning. A car from Grey Lynn was passing Selwyn road when the motorman and conductor noticed that a- dark form which they had observed on the outward trip was s-till lying on the footpath. The tram was brought to a standstill, and the two officials proceeded to investigate. They found that the form -which had attracted their attention was that of a girl about 20 years of age. She was in a semi-conscious condition, having evidently been quite recently seized with an 'epileptic lit. The traniwaymen lifted the girl into the car, and conveyed her to tin' Newton Police The officer in charge questioned the girl, but, she could only dive very meagre information about herself, being still only halfsensible. She stated that her name was Violet Cole, and thai sho had only come to Auckland three days ago from her home in the Gifcborno district. She said she had been staying in Auckland with her uncle, whose name, sho said, was Henry Cole. As to the latter's address her mind, however, was a blank. The strange part of the affair is that neither the police nor the hospital authorities have so far received any inquiries re urarding the patient. Tanuaiy 5. Miss Colo, who wa? found unconscious vesterday. was identified to-day by her aunt as a daughter of Mrs Jefftoate, who lives at Lytlon road. Gisborne.
