The flaxmills in the Foxton district arc now working in full swing, and production is heavy. Many holdings in Brazil which have been abandoned for nearly a century are now being worked and made productive. That of the Carmelite monks, whore there is now settled a colony of foreign agriculturists, and that of the Bened : ctine monks, worked bv the monks themselves, are among these. The ancient industry of sugar planting has been revived to an extent never before known in some States. Many of the municipalities have revived and accain placed under cultivation old and abandoned coffee fazendas.
