THE WEATHER.
(From Our Own Correspondents.) STATION PEAK, December 29. The rainfall registered hero for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. on Wednesday was 42 pohits. A most welcome and much needed shower fell, making 78 points for the month so far. The weather looks settled and tho glass is steady. ALEXANDRA, December 31. The heat ha 3 been most oppressive during the last fortnight. There were bush fires beyond Earnscleugh on Saturday and today which affected Alexandra, very much, making tho placo look as if there was a dust storm. Tho district is looking very dry and parched. Water is scarce, and is turned off at nights at present.
