IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
(By Cable). The British Government is very desirous of holding an Imperial Conference at the earliest moment, and negotiations to that end are proceeding with the overseas Governments. The crux of the position appears to be the ability of the Commonwealth of Australia to send delegates forthwith, while Now Zealand's representatives are on the spot. Little difficulty is apprehended in securing the immediate attendance of representatives from Canada, South A/tica, and Newfoundland. The probability of an early Imperial Conference is a topic of discussion in colonial circles. Mr Massoy and Sir J. G. Ward have postponed their departure for a month. It is understood that the dominions will have a choice between a formal Imperial Conference and the establishment of a Dominions' War Board in London, with direct representation in the War Cabinet. Mr Hughes, the Commonwealth Prime Minister, has admitted that ho has received an invitation to attend an Imperial Conference, but he declined to indicate whether he intended to accept it.
