[Answered by ft duly qualified Veterinary Surgeon Queries must be received by SATURDAY nigh' to ensure reply in the succeeding issue.] Anxious.—(l) Heifer ailing: From the description given the heifer seems to be suffering from some chronic disease, probably tuberculosis. If so, treatment will not do much good; but as you say the heifer is a good one that you do not mind incurring a little expense over, you can try the following mixture:—Carbonate of iron, powdered, ldr; compound tincture of gentian, 3dr; cod liver oil, 2oz. This is to be given every day for some time. Feed well with bran and chaff, etc. (2) Cow giving bad milk: Give the cow six powders each containing 4dr chlorate of potash; one powder per day in a pint of gruel, sweetened with treacle. See that everything is scrupulously clean, that there are no bad drains or bad ernells about, and keep the milk separate from the rest.
