PUKERAU.
July 19. —This has boon one of the mildest winters that Pukcrau has ever experienced; consequently feed ior stock is wry plentiful. Dairying.—The dairy factory, having completed a most successful season, is now closed for the winter. The plant to make whey butter that was installed at the beginning of last season proved a great success, and the quality of the butter was excellent. Red Cross Fund. —A most successful concert in aid of the Red Cross Funds was hold in the Pukcrau Hall last week. Mr F. Junker presented a cake for a weightguessing competition, the correct weight of which was guessed by Mr F. Trapski. The cake was then put up for sale, and was sold 18 times at £1 each time. The funds of the society benefited by £35 as the result of the concert. A Limb presented by Miss Crawford, Kaiwera, was sold for 235.
