OBITUARY
SIR WILLIAM RAMSAY. LONDON.. July 23. The death is reported of Sir Williani Ramsay, the eminent scientist. ("Sir "William Ramsay was born at Glasgow in October, 1852. He was* educated at Glasgow Academy and University, and at Tubingen University. He held university professorships at Bristol, London, and Glasgow, and was principal of the University College, Bristol, for six years. He had. published numerous papers dealing with scientific research, and three text-books of chemistry and of The Discovery of tho Constituents of the Air. In recognition of his scientific attainments he Avas knighted (K.C.8.). He was Commander of tho Crown of Italy, Knight of tho Prussian Order Pour le Merite, Officer de la Legion d' Honneur, a Nobel prizeman, and also an honorary member of the Royal Academies of Ireland, Berlin. Bohemia, Holland, Rome, Petrograd, Turin, Romania, Vienna, Norway, and Sweden, and of several foreign academics and societies.]
