COMMONWEALTH LOAN
LONDON, June 22
Subscriptions to the commonwealth loan (of £4,000,003 in 5£ per cent, bonds) close on Tuesday. Stockbrokers have given it a favourable reception, and the Commonwealth Bank was thronged with applicants.
The prospectus, which will be advertised to-morrow, announces that the whole proceeds will be paid to the various States for public works, Victoria receiving £650,000, Queensland £1,275,000, South Australia £775,000, Western Australia £1,100.000, and Tasmania £200,000.
