Hedgehogs are reported to be very numerous in the Rakaia township. A resident who has a croquet lawn was at a loss to account for so many holes in the turf, but eventually he found that the hedgehog was responsible for the mischief. He now keeps a fox terrier, which has accounted for no fewer than 20 of tho animals.
