MAORI SOLDIERS PUNISHED.
AUCKLAND, October 20. The sentences in connection 'with the court martial recently held at the Maori camp have been announced. Corporal J. M. Hopa, who was charged with desertion, was sentenced to 30 days’ detention, and was deprived of his stripes. Private Hon Mohi, who missed a transport at Wellington, through drunkenness, was sentenced to 24 hours’ detention for absenting himself without leave. As he has already done this period, he was permitted to return to the ranks.
