WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND
GORE, October 20. -At the crowning ceremony in connection with the Eastern District Country Queen (Mrs Edith H. Pinckney, Waikaia) there was a large attendance this afternoon and evening. A choir ot 250 Invercargill voices and a large orchestra assisted. The carnival, which was a complete success, was hold for the Wounded Soldicgs Fund. NEW PLYMOUTH, October 19. Mary Thacker, of Okain’s Bay, Banks Peninsula, won the raffle for Mr E. Griffiths’s purebred Jersey bull valued at 150 gs. The Patriotic Fund will benefit to the extent of £SOO by the raffle.
